The activities of the partnership Gesthuysen comprise the entire spectrum of intellectual property from patent, trademark and design protection (i.e. prosecution, defense and enforcement) to national and international license and know-how agreement law and the law relating to inventions made by employees.
Over many years the partnership has acquired particularly extensive experience in the enforcement of intellectual property rights, on the one hand, and in the defense of such rights on the other hand through its participation in numerous infringement and nullity proceedings, in many cases through all levels of jurisdiction up to the Federal Supreme Court.
The large number of infringement and nullity proceedings which the firm has handled has fostered awareness of the significance of intellectual property rights: In infringement or nullity proceedings, an inadequate disclosure or a patent claim worded too narrowly can have severe consequences for the value of a patent.
The firm of Gesthuysen also recognizes that - in addition to experience - another important quality for a patent attorneys' office is continuity, because continuity advances the successful support of the clients. This recognition is demonstrated by the partners' dedication to the education of younger associates having different scientific backgrounds, who profit from the experience of the partnership and can themselves contribute their newest scientific skills.
